Rising star Rosie Chapman has set her sights on gold at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Chapman, 21, officially unveiled her campaign ‘Going for Gold’ to members of the High (Chai) Seas Sailing Club, as guest of honour.

The British Laser Radial dinghy sailor has been a member of the UK’s only Jewish sailing club for two years. Talking about her aims for London, she said: “I have wanted to win an Olympic gold from the age of 12. To represent team GB in home waters is everyone on the team’s dream. I want to make it a reality and take nothing less.”

Farmar finds life tough at the top with LA Lakers

Jordan Farmar is one of the NBA’s brightest young stars. The 22-year-old recently signed a four-year deal $8 million with LA Lakers.

But he has failed to recapture last season’s form, in only his second year of pro-basketball, when he played in all 82 games, and the Lakers went all the way to the NBA finals before succumbing to the Boston Celtics.

Awat’s Camp Nou debut

Dudu Awat is set to make his debut for Real Mallorca against Spanish league leaders Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Saturday after signing a three and-a-half-year contract.

Swimmer Robbie's Macedonia mission

Having missed out on a place at the Beijing Olympics by one second, Robbie Williams is on a mission to help Macedonia send a delegation to the Maccabiah Games for the first time.

Williams, 29, knows that with 200 Jews in the Balkan state, he will do well to find any home-grown talent to help boost the squad, but he is calling on Macedonians across the globe to get in touch.

The American-born swimmer works as a patents lawyer in London and hopes that his adopted nation can overcome financial problems to make their debut in Israel.

The Ryman stage is calling, says Stone

Wingate & Finchley manager Michael Stone has challenged Jewish players to step up to the plate to ensure that there is significant representation on the pitch.

The club has come under renewed criticism this season with just one player, Craig Ellis, a regular on the teamsheet for the Ryman League Division One North side. But Stone responded by saying that Jewish boys will be considered if they are good enough — and committed enough.

Bloom blossoms for Neasden C

A Stephen Bloom hat-trick led North West Neasden ‘C’ to a gritty 3-1 win over Temple Fortune at Bricket Wood.

The match started at a relatively slow pace on a pitch that was slightly uneven and heavy after the recent spell of bad weather. Neither side really imposed themselves on the game and chances were few and far between.

Raiders make their own luck

North London Raiders B talisman Nicky Woolf grabbed a late, late winner against Southgate Harmen B in a pulsating game at Hillingdon.

The Raiders twice came from a goal behind after the influential Simon Gold had put the Harmen second sting ahead on two occasions. Nicky Woolf and David Rhodes had restored parity and with the game heading for a draw Woolf stepped up to give Raiders the three points.

Relief all-round as Brixton go through

A fab four-goal salvo from Adam Kaye ensured that there was no upset as an excellent second half performed took Brixton through.

On a sunny and windy morning Brixton were playing for the first time in six weeks, with 18 players unavailable Brixton recalled Nigel 'the white haired giant' Conway into their starting 11, with a return to the side for Neil Burke after eight months out with injury. FC Team came into the tie full of confidence top of Division 3.

Wolfson Hillel are top of the class

Wolfson Hillel won the Years Three and Four Enfield Gymnastics competition.

The squad saw off the challenge of 13 other school, performing the floor and vault routines with skill, accuracy and style, demonstrating flair and poise throughout.

The squad: Charli Posner, Ellie Stone, Eliana Kramer, Ellie Pins and Amy Oberlander.

The Southgate school took two bronze in the Year Two event. The squad: Sam Lobetta, Ilana Phillips, Oliver Small, Oliver Waldman and Joshua Jacobs.

Sixth place was achieved in the Year Five and Six category.

Fencer Jay keeps his discipline

Alan Jay, one of Britain’s most outstanding fencers of the past 60 years, was re-elected for a further four-year term to the Disciplinary Committee of fencing’s international governing body, the Federation Internationale D’Escrime (FIE).

Jay won both team and individual medals at epee in the Rome (1960) Olympics and was World Champion foilist in 1959. Amongst his other medals, he won six golds for two appearances in the Maccabiah Games.
